Minneapolis (Nov. 9, 2008) - Midwest Medical Insurance Company Inc. recently announced a first time dividend and a 15.5 percent decrease in base rates for its Wisconsin physician policyholders in 2008. The company will also offer occurrence coverage in Wisconsin beginning January 2008. MMIC insures more than 1800 physicians with $13 million in written premium in Wisconsin.
The $200,000 dividend is possible due to the profitability of the 2004 policy-year in Wisconsin and will be available to policyholders who remain insured throughout the 2008 policy-year. We will apply the 15.5 percent base-rate premium decrease to new and renewal policies effective January 1, 2008.
Beginning January 1, 2008, MMIC will offer occurrence coverage as an alternative to its claims made coverage. "Shopping for professional liability insurance can be overwhelming," says Gerald O'Connell, vice president of Sales and Marketing. "By offering both type coverages, we hope to help potential policyholder decide which policy best suits their needs." The occurrence coverage will be available for new policyholders only.
Headquartered in Minneapolis, Minn, MMIC, a member of the MMIC Group, is one the premier physician-owned specialty medical professional liability insurers in the country. It provides coverage to physicians, clinics and hospitals in the Upper Midwest.
