Well-being and resilience

Why is well-being important for health care providers?

To be well means to have good physical and mental health. In contrast, well-being is a broader, more holistic concept. Well-being refers to the balance of your mind, body and spirit.

There is a link between the well-being of health care providers and patient safety. High levels of stress, when not managed effectively, can lead to burnout. And burnout can lead to ineffective teamwork, medical errors, poor communication, patient dissatisfaction and preventable adverse outcomes.
