However, many healthcare organizations do not understand that these principle objectives are addressed by the regulations outlined by the HIPAA Security Rule. And further, compliance with the HIPAA Security Rule is the underlying force to "protect patient electronic health information," a required objective within the EHR incentive program for meaningful use.
